Drew Barrymore On Her Fiance: ‘He’s A Wonderful Man’
Posted on January 21, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Drew Barrymore spent Friday morning in Los Angeles promoting her film, inspired by a true story, “Big Miracle,” in which she sets out to save a family of whales trapped by ice, but it was another kind of ice that caught Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson by surprise – the actress’ engagement ring.

“He’s a wonderful man,” Drew said of her fiancé, Will Kopelman, as Shaun admired her ring.

“He bought her a flashlight to put on it,” Drew’s “Big Miracle” co-star John Krasinski — who plays a news reporter in the film — chimed in, referencing the sparkling qualities of Drew’s diamond. “It’s very sweet. Practical.”

Drew got engaged over the holidays while she and Will were in Sun Valley, Idaho.

“He is a very romantic and creative person,” Drew told Shaun of Will. “He’s wonderful.”

Drew said she loves the stability of her relationship with Will, something she opened up about in the February issue of InStyle magazine.

“It’s funny, when I was younger, I used to say I’d hate a flat line—that I want the ups and downs, the rollercoaster. But I’m actually really enjoying the flat line,” she told the mag.

When asked about her quote, Drew expanded on her original thoughts, telling Shaun that she loves how her life has turned out.

“I think that you want so much sort of craziness and excitement when you’re younger and then it’s actually just being with friends and family and having that quiet weekend together that is just the most ideal way to spend your time,” she said.

“Totally,” John chimed in with a smile. “And he called and asked my permission first (laughs)… He’s really sweet.”

Also sweet is Drew and John’s film, which allowed the actress to play a whale advocate who tangles with multiple governments on an emotional journey to save three whales.

“I like going to work and having to cry. I like having to go to work and be strong or feisty, and I got to do so many things as this amazing woman” Drew said of her character, Rachel. “I got to fight for something I completely love and believe in.”

And the story, in general, motivated the actress as well.

“I just loved the story. I like family oriented movies, I like if there’s something for children, but I like if there’s something for adults too, and this is environmental, and it’s political, and it’s heartfelt, and it’s emotional, “ she said. “It’s uplifting. I don’t have a sad umbrella over my head. I want to see things that are inspiring.”

“Big Miracle” hits theaters on February 3.

Drew Barrymore Covers “InStyle” Magazine
Posted on January 08, 2012 • Leave a message? / 1 Comment

Drew Barrymore is featured on the cover of the February 2012 issue of “InStyle” magazine!

On her wish that she lessen the pace of life:
“I would love to slow things down a bit. We’re living in a time when we have such expectations of immediacy. Everything is instantaneous, everything’s out there.”

On time with her fiancé Will Kopelman:
“It’s just the best! We go on group trips and spend holidays together – there’s a lot of love! And that is really nice and very different from the way I grew up, which was more unstable and inconsistent, with a lot of highs and lows. It’s funny, when I was younger, I used to say I’d hate a flat line – that I want the ups and the downs, the roller coaster. But I’m actually really enjoying the flat line.”

On her old-school ways:
“I’m an old-school gal. I love to play with hair and makeup and clothes.”

On her philosophy when it comes to life:
“Happiness is a choice. You have to choose it – and you have to fight for it.”

Kopelman proposed with a colorless radiant-cut diamond ring by Graff.

“They are very happy together,” adds the source.

Barrymore spent about 10 days over the Christmas holiday in Sun Valley with Kopelman, where they were spotted at the romantic Vintage restaurant and picking up organic salads at Kiki’s Café. Onlookers tell PEOPLE when spotted out and about, the couple graciously posed for pictures.

Though the two never officially confirmed their relationship, they have been linked romantically since February of last year.

For most of 2011, they were nearly inseparable, spotted everywhere from Broadway shows to sporting events together.

It will be the third time down the aisle for Barrymore, 36, who was married to Tom Green from 1999 to 2001 and to Jeremy Thomas briefly in 1994.

Drew Barrymore Signs on to Direct Hit List Script ‘When the Streetlights Go On’
Posted on December 12, 2011 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Less than one day after earning a top-3 spot on our annual Hit List, TB has exclusively learned that actor, producer, director Drew Barrymore has signed on to direct the coming-of-age drama WHEN THE STREETLIGHTS GO ON. The film, which is set to be produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer via their Imagine Entertainment company hit the market back in July of this year, and has quietly gained a lot of fanfare amongst execs around town. Now, a few months later, and after making the top 3 (out of 83) count of our best spec scripts of the year list, the project begins its journey from beloved script, to fast-tracked film. The story, which recounts a man’s coming-of-age events amidst a small town murder mystery is written by co-writers Eddie O’Keefe and Chris Hutton.

Manager Tariq Merhab, and WME agents Sarah Self and Simon Faber repped the sale to Imagine.

Barrymore, who last directed the Ellen Page-starred “Whip It” currently has the Warner Bros. projects “Heist Society” and “Surrender Dorothy” on her directing slate alongside New Line’s “How to Be Single”. As an actress she also stars in the upcoming Universal pic “Big Miracle” (previously, and significantly better known as “Everybody Loves Whales”).

Barrymore is repped by Peter Levine and Bryan Lourd at CAA.
