Categories: Articles, Media

With a new celebrity tell-all book coming out practically every week, it’s frighteningly not too hard to imagine the next of them being in the form of a coloring book. From “The Onion News Network”: “Drew knew that people would be dissecting every one of the 400 words in the book. She is not holding anything back here, and you’ll see that for yourself when you’re coloring in those pages.”

Co-stars in “Everybody Loves Whales” Announced!

News have been a bit slow lately but here’s an article from Collider which tells us that Drew’s co-stars in Everybody Loves Whales, among others, will be Ken Kwapis and John Krasinski. Some new information about the movie is also featured.

John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore are set to star in director Ken Kwapis’ (License to Wed) Whales. Universal Pictures hopes to shoot this fall – depending on Krasinski’s Office schedule. The movie is based on a real event from 1988 when a trio of California gray whales got trapped under the ice in the Arctic Circle.

Krasinski will play a small town newspaper reporter who breaks the story. Barrymore plays a Greenpeace activist, and they turn the potential tragedy into an international story. The incident created a temporary Cold War thaw as President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev found a common cause. They interceded to save the whales.

Since certain countries hunt whales and the magnificent creatures are still threatened (how quickly everyone forgot what Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home taught us), I’m on board with any movie that might help save some of them in the future. Even if Ken Kwapis is directing it.

Drew Barrymore APOLOGIZES To Gucci For 2006 Golden Globes Dress

Categories: Articles, Interviews, Style

Drew Barrymore talked to ContactMusic.com about her worst fashion decision: the green Gucci dress she wore to the 2006 Golden Globes, which made her “boobs look like watermelons.”

She said, “Never wear a high neck dress with a high belt. It makes your tits look like they are at your waist. It was the Golden Globes. I felt so bad. I was like, ‘I’m so sorry, Gucci. I have tarnished your name.”

Drew Barrymore: Don’t mention the c-word

A great article about Drew’s career and her views on Hollywood and fame has been published on Guardian!

Drew Barrymore, whose first film appearance was as a three-year-old and who, at 35, is, by virtue of pedigree, productivity and insanely laconic vowels, the youngest grande dame that ever was, is rousing herself to condemn the state of the entertainment business. “Celebrity!” she says, casting a furious eye across the Manhattan office. “It’s become the most disgusting word on the planet. It makes me sick to my stomach.” I have just asked whether celebrity aids or inhibits her in studio meetings. Now her earrings are shaking. “When I started out I was an actor. And now when someone calls me a celebrity, I want to shoot them. I want to go, thank you for reducing me – I’ve worked for 35 years, I’ve killed myself to be established as someone who is responsible, reliable and accountable in my field of work, yet you’re calling me a name of someone who basically got famous for no reason.” Her eyes widen to fill her whole head. “It’s like the worst name on the planet. I hate it. And people say it all the time: ‘You’re a celebrity.’ No, I’m an actor. I’m a producer. I’m a director. I’m a toad. I’m roadkill. I’m anything but a celebrity.”

Barrymore is a celebrity, what can you do? Life’s unfair. Her films have grossed more than $2.3bn, she has been a successful producer for 15 years, has directed her first film and is in New York today for meetings with advertising agents about work for her production company. Thanks to her particular brand of celebrity, however, she is still regarded by the public as more Hollywood than Hollywood, someone who has been famous for ever, a lovable ditz who never quite grew up.

Drew to Star in “Everybody Loves Whales”?

Categories: Articles, Role Rumors

Drew is according to Ecorazzi rumored to star in a new movie called Everybody Loves Whales as a Greenpeace activist. Nothing has been confirmed by officials as of yet but it sure sounds like an interesting role. Let us know what you think!

In October 1988, an Eskimo found three California gray whales trapped under ice in the Arctic Circle. The subsequent rescue became an international media event as more than 150 journalists from four continents transcended upon the small town of Barrow, Alaska.

Millions of people watched U.S. President Ronald Regan and General Secretary of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev work together to save the large marine mammals.

Twenty-two years later, Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to the story “Everybody Loves Whales” which is based on the book “Freeing the Whales” by Tom Rose.

Reports indicate that Drew Barrymore has signed on to play the role of a Greenpeace activist in the film. Ken Kwapis of “He’s Just Not That Into You” is set to direct. Additional casting information and dates for “Everybody Loves Whales” have not been announced but one would think a quick turnaround is to be expected in order to capitalize on the success of other oceanic awareness films like “The Cove.”

Drew Barrymore @ Hope For Haiti Telethon Photos + Article

Yesterday, as many other celebrities, Drew helped out at George Clooney’s Hope for Haiti Telethon and we got some very nice pictures of Drew from this event.

Gallery Link: Hope for Haiti Telethon – Jan 22, 2010

E! Online has also posted an article about the telethon and the celebrities attending it, including Drew.

The mood was subdued, yet the passion with which the crème de la crème of the acting and recording worlds approached the evening’s efforts was an underlying force to be reckoned with.

From George Clooney’s opening sentiments from Los Angeles, where he spent the past week pulling together the two-hour Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, to Anderson Cooper’s dispatches from the earthquake-torn nation to Wyclef Jean’s closing message of hope for his fellow Haitians to each and every musical performance, there really wasn’t a moment that didn’t ring heartfelt and true.

The only times we glanced in disbelief, perhaps, was when we saw who was populating the front row of phone banks: Jenna Elfman, Tobey Maguire, Meg Ryan, Tim Robbins, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman, Julia Roberts, Mel Gibson, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Eric Dane, Kate Beckinsale, Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Ben Affleck, Sigourney Weaver, Noah Wyle, Ringo Starr, Jack Nicholson, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Robin Williams and more.

Just sitting there, one right next to the other, animatedly engaging donors who were giving anywhere from $5 to thousands to the cause. (And we didn’t even mention Tim Allen, Billy Crystal, Colin Farrell, Pierce Brosnan, Gerard Butler, Neil Patrick Harris, LL Cool J, Selena Gomez, et al. sitting in the second row.)
