Drew Barrymore has reportedly signed up to play a role in a Bollywood film.

The US actress has joined the cast of The Lifestyle, directed by Santosh Kumar Jain, reports the Hindustan Times.

Jain commented: “I really liked her performance in Charlie’s Angels and decided to cast her in my film. Fortunately, she liked the script and agreed instantly.

“The film is about three women from different walks of life, trying to assert their identities. Drew plays the role of a foreigner in the film. The other two will be top Indian actresses.”

Filming on the project is expected to begin in November, with producers looking at a 2012 release.

Drew Barrymore is sitting on the floor at a friend’s house in the Hollywood Hills, wearing gray sweats and long black-and-white-striped socks, and patting her dog, Douglas Fairbanks Barrymore (a rescue mutt with a Hollywood pedigree). She spent a long day yesterday swanning about in couture for these pages, inspired by ’60s It girls Sharon Tate and Veruschka. The concept was Drew’s idea, and there is no doubt that had she been of age in the ’60s, she would have been swinging. “Ah,” she says, smiling, “my favorite fashion era.” It seems an injustice that Drew was never in an Austin Powers film, when you think about it. She’d put the femme in fembot.

Sucking down a giant iced tea, Drew is working up inspiration with a vintage ’60s Playboy. (She collects them, and not for the articles.) This issue features a brunette nymphet sporting wide red knickers and a tan line for the record books. “Isn’t that the sexiest thing?” she asks in that uncynical Drewish way that makes you instantly nod.

Even though she’s in sweats, Drew looks pretty dreamy. She is lightly tanned from a solo trip to India, and her bone structure has popped. “I feel like some of my baby fat is going away,” she observes, “and that’s not just physically, it’s psychologically. I think that your body is in tune with your mind and your spirituality and your heart. If things are going better, I just think you look better.”

Things must be going swimmingly in Barrymoreland. But after being famous for 28 years, she’s done more interviews than Ashton Kutcher has tweeted. “I know!” she says, a wicked glint in her eye. “Let’s do the eHarmony questionnaire.”

So we Google and find something eHarmony-ish. It’s not Playboy, but in so many ways, it’s the mirror of our times. Where else can you fall in love “for all the right reasons”? Drew smiles like Gertie seeing E.T. for the first time.

Love is only 3,000 miles and a racy phone call away in the new romantic comedy Going the Distance, starring Drew Barrymore
and Justin Long. Drew spoke about her R-rated romp and getting paid to make out with her real-life on-again, off-again flame.

Q: What do you like most about your character, Erin?
I just didn’t want to play a cuckoo, wacky role. She’s someone who can hang out with guys and loves women but has a spine and is funny. I relate to that kind of person right now in my life.

Q: What have you learned about how to make a relationship work?
Nothing! In all seriousness, I’m very excited to be in my 30s and not stand on my soapbox and brag about what I know. I’m not in on any brilliant secrets right now.

Q: How can you make a longdistance relationship work?
I know what I would want to make one work, like letters and surprising each other — things that make you feel special, like you’re part of a unit and it’s not a phantom thing.

Q: Where do things stand right now with you and Justin?
We never talk about when we’re together and when we’re not. It never, ever will be addressed. Mystery is sexy. But I definitely think it was a benefit that we knew each other so well. It’s very rare to have such an amazing chemistry with someone. That was such a blessing.

Q: So all those kissing scenes were just part of the job?
I was just lucky he’s a good kisser! The worst is when you’re kissing somebody who’s not and you feel like you’re working on your own. Basically, it was a real team effort!

Actress Drew Barrymore, who debuted as a director with critically acclaimed 2009 movie
Whip It, is looking for another project to helm.

The actress says she is desperately trying to find a new script to start work on, but admits it has to be something she wouldn’t mind working on everyday for three years, according to reports.

“As a director, I’m really trying hard to find something I fall in love with again because it’s a really long, intense job that you work on every day for the next three years,” Barrymore said in an interview.

The 35-year-old star, who rose to fame as a child actress in the 80s, says she loves working as a director, although it makes her personal life seem messy in comparison.

“I have just always wanted to direct. My whole life has been sort of trying to hunt and gather information on how I could be the best director I could be, and I just want to grow and evolve in that form of the job. And I just love films,” she added.

Barrymore recently appeared in romantic comedy Going the Distance with on and off boyfriend Justin Long.

The actress says when it comes to direction, she is very fastidious and wants to know every little detail before going behind the camera.

“When it comes to directing I’m as fastidious as it gets. I’m homework orientated, I’m diligent, I’m disciplined and inexhaustible. But my real life is a disaster,” she said.

This weekend’s romantic comedy “Going the Distance” pairs up Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.

We asked them about working together, challenging scenes and more to get a better idea of their chemistry:

Q. How important is the first kiss in a romantic comedy?

Justin Long: The first kiss for us in the movie was sloppy because we were stoned. It was so easy to do because we are so comfortable. Sometimes it can be a surprise when you’ve just met someone.

Drew Barrymore: I was just lucky because he’s a good kisser. Thank God! The worst is when you’re trying to kiss someone who’s not a good kisser and you’re trying to make it look good. You feel like you’re working on your own. At least this was a real team effort.

What was the most challenging scene?

DB: One of the challenges I was most excited about was doing the drunk scene. We focused on what type of drunk is she, what we could ad lib and what could be spontaneous. If you were really angry, how would you let loose? It was like the most fun day at work ever.

JL: Some of the naked stuff was a little uncomfortable. But I think the most challenging was trying to keep a straight face. A lot of the intimate, sexual stuff-in a room full of 30-40 grown men-was a challenge.

Q. So just how important is it to have sparks between the leads in a romantic comedy?

DB: I find that films, for me, work best when you are invested in the whole group of people. I love films that have an alumni quality and you’re really into all the people in it. I love when the chemistry goes far beyond the couple.

Q. What attracted you to this film?

DB: I wasn’t in that place in my life where I wanted to play a cuckoo, wacky roll-reversal scenario. I wanted to play someone who has spine and is funny. I feel like I relate to that kind of person in my life right now so it was a pleasure for me to get to improv and work in a more free-flowing way.

Q. What’s the most cherished thing in your house?

DB: Any of my dogs.

Q. What are your top three movies?

JL: “Annie Hall,” “Back to the Future” and “Way Out West.”

DB: “Annie Hall,” “Lost in America” and “Sullivan’s Travels.” Those are some of my favorite movies.
